Preventing Soft-tissue Injuries
Soft-tissue injuries are the number-one injury in the construction industry. Any company looking to enhance their safety program or reduce worker’s compensation claim costs would be wise to focus on these injuries or more specifically their prevention.
This new article by Charles J. Brienza, CHST, CPR's Safety Director, offers an overview of safe work practices which help to prevent these soft-tissue injuries.

CPR Honored Twice by ICRI-BW Chapter
Yesterday (November 7, 2014), was a very important day for CPR for two reasons. First, our senior Project Manager, Patrick O’Malley, received an award from the ICRI-BW Chapter for all his efforts in promoting and encouraging people to participate in the chapter while also maintaining his efforts to give back to the community.
Secondly, CPR won first place on the ICRI-BWC 2014 Outstanding Repair Project Award with the Mount Carmel Municipal Authority Wastewater Treatment Plant SBR Tank #1 Repair project. The MCMA Wastewater Treatment Plant was built in 1975 and it was originally designed for 1.5 mgd average daily flow & 2,500 lbs/day of organic capacity, but on September 2011, the devastation of Hurricane Sandy played its toll on the SBR Tank #1 causing slab buckling, foundation movements, foundation wall displacement, walkway displacement, and column structural damage. Therefore, from May 2013 to January 2014, CP&R performed a $1M repair on the SBR Tank #1. Repair sequencing was systematically designed to stabilize the structure while allowing the adjacent tanks to stay in full operation as well as to not jeopardize the structural integrity of the post-tension foundation slab and walkway bridges.

CPR Completes Upgrades at Fannie Mae
During the past 10 months, CP&R performed Building Envelope & Waterproofing Upgrades at Fannie Mae’s corporate office located in Reston, Virginia. The scope of the project involved complete removal of the existing lighting, drainage, planters, pavers, topping slabs, and waterproofing at the West Plaza and Rotunda as well as selective demolition, concrete repairs, precast panels, and unit masonry assemblies.
The project also involved manufacturing and installing custom architectural exposed structural steel trellis, custom glass canopies, new pavers, planters and all new state of the art lighting and landscaping. This project took place during one of the worst winters this area has seen in twenty years. There were also many challenges throughout this project due to hidden and unforeseen conditions but CPR was able to work very close with Fannie Mae’ s design team and engineers to minimize cost and delays.
Curious to see the outcome of this project? Take at a look at the pictures!
